We’re Back, Together: Mentor A Promise Returns to In-Person Sessions
A new school year brings new routines, new classrooms, and new opportunities to begin again.
For Mentor A Promise, it also means returning to something we have missed: being together in person.
This school year, our young people, mentors, and volunteers will once again gather for weekly sessions filled with art, cooking, musical expression, literacy, mentorship, and opportunities to explore new interests.
But being back together is about much more than the activities on the calendar.
The Moments That Make a Program
Some of the most meaningful moments happen between the planned activities.
A young person walking through the door and recognizing a familiar face.
Someone remembering what they talked about the week before.
A mentor sitting beside a child who needs a little help.
A conversation that begins while making art or cooking together and continues long after the activity is finished.
These moments are difficult to measure, but they matter.
For young people experiencing housing instability, having people and places they can return to consistently can be especially meaningful.
Another Year of Showing Up
At Mentor A Promise, mentorship is built one interaction at a time.
We show up.
We listen.
We learn together.
We create together.
And then we come back and do it again.
As our in-person sessions return for the school year, we’re looking forward to seeing the room come alive again—the books opening, the art supplies coming out, the music beginning, and conversations picking up where they left off.
Most of all, we’re looking forward to seeing familiar faces walk through the door and getting to say:
“Good to see you again.”
Here’s to another year of learning, creating, connecting, and showing up for one another.
We’re back, together.
