Read Together, Grow Together: The Moments Children Remember Most

Some of the most meaningful moments in childhood don't happen during big celebrations.

They happen in the quiet moments.

A parent reading one more chapter before bed.

A teacher pausing to ask, "What do you think happens next?"

These moments may seem ordinary, but they have a lasting impact.

As part of our Summer of Possibility™ campaign, this week's theme is Read Together, Grow Together.

Reading together is about much more than helping children become stronger readers. It's an opportunity to build trust, encourage curiosity, and create a space where children feel heard. Stories naturally invite questions, spark imagination, and open conversations that might not happen any other way.

Research consistently shows that reading aloud with children supports language development, strengthens literacy skills, and helps foster a lifelong love of reading. Just as important, it creates meaningful connections between children and the adults who care for them.

The book itself matters, but the time spent together matters even more.

This week, we encourage families, caregivers, mentors, educators, and volunteers to make reading a shared experience. Visit your local library, choose a favorite story from your bookshelf, or let a child pick the next adventure.

When you finish reading, don't stop there.

Ask questions.

Listen carefully.

Wonder together.
